All the good electro dub these days is comming out of New Zealand

Groove Corp is fucking awesome, look for their remixes of Dillinger ('Cocaine') and Big Youth ('Waterhouse Rock') or anything off their label, Different Drummer. You won't be dissappoited.

Thievery Corporation's new stuff is totally badass dubby bizness too. The singles for 'Warning Shots' and 'Revolution Solution' have both dropped recently on their Eighteenth Street Lounge label, and before that the 'Babylon Rewound' EP. All amazingluy good.

The Dog House is a new label dedicated to head-nodding dub sounds. The first release, 'Off the Lead / Nuclear Dub' by Scrappy (aka Blowfelt) is very heavy sound-system oriented dub with hip hop beats. Not sure if they have a second release yet, but i'm awaiting it eagerly...

I also love to go back a few years and check out the old On-U Sound System stuff, particularly Dub Syndicate. Audio Active from Japan were another stand out group from that stable, records they put out 10 years ago would hold up on any sound today. Lee 'Scratch' Perry did an LP with DS for On-U years ago that's incredible... can't remember the title though.

Whilst checking all this new-school stuff though, don't forget to peep out the innovators like Scratch, Tubby, Sly & Robbie, U Roy, etc... to this day most of the best reggae music still owes a heavy debt to these guys. They invented production techniques that were far ahead of their time and, considering the vast advances in technology since their day, have yet to be significantly improved upon.

Ott's "Blumenkraft" is by far the best album of dub and electronica I've heard... Gaudi's "Bass, Sweat, and Tears" is getting a lot of positive attention as well... a guy by the name of Bluetech does a lot of a electro-dub as well... also, a compilation off the interchill label called "Talisman" is completely full of electro-dub... "The Lily Dub" by Jumbo Layer is my favorite song off that CD...

oh yeah, almost forgot to mention J*STAR, although chances of finding anything on CD/MP3 are slim to none.... more known as a mash-up producer, J*Star has released a series of white label 45's that take the (somewhat cliched) idea of reggae/hiphop mash-ups to the next level. Where his peers are content to simply let the latest rap acapellas ride over the current hot reggae riddims, J*Star re-works the heaviest of classic roots & dub versions, meshing them with equally classic vocal performances from the world of hip hop & rnb. His debut (afaik) paired Blackstreet's 'No Diggity' with Sir Coxsone Dodd's 'Real Rock' version, with Mary J's 'Real Love' over the Diwali riddim on the flip. His heaviest tracks though haved dropped more recently, the best being, imo, his dubbed out re-working of Dead Prez 'Bigger Than...' and his amazing transformation of Toni Braxton's light-rnb anthem 'Unbreak My Heart' into a soul-wrenching roots banger. Not sure who he is or where he hails from, but an affiliation with The Nextmen is indicated by his reworking of 2 tracks by Scenario Records artist Blufoot. Other remixes include the likes of Gangstarr, Snoop, Foxy Brown & Montel Jordan.

just previewed the new LP from Fat Freddy's Drop... pretty sick shit. Definitely moving further in the reggae direction than past releases i've heard.
